Varun Mehta is a transdisciplinary designer from Mumbai, India, with a practice that spans architectural design, identity design, communication design and product design.
Graduating as an architect in 2017 from Mumbai University, his early work focused on how spatial design influences human behavior.
Mehta has worked in key roles at firms such as Studio 823 (Samir Raut, Faizan Khatri), The Busride Design Studio (Zameer and Ayaz Basrai) and Studio Tessera (Sagarika Suri).
In this time, he honed his skills across various crafts such as material studies, architectural research , storytelling through design, up-cycling of construction waste, and sustainable fabrication technologies.
Mehta’s early work exploits have focused on architecture, commercial hospitality projects, residential interiors, co-working spaces, educational spaces as well as web & graphic design.

In 2020, Mehta founded ARC.HV, a non-profit digital platform that unites creatives across disciplines through self-initiated projects, such as Virtual Gods, India’s first virtual art exhibit, and an Open Source Design Library.
In 2022, he completed a Master’s in Computational Design from the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, exploring parametric workflows, machine learning, AI; through design for social impact.
Mehta has also been an advocate for skateboarding culture in Mumbai, playing a crucial role in developing skateparks and promoting the social impact of public spaces. He is currently the creative director at Urban Monkey where he focuses on making quality design accessible to the masses while fostering creative industrial design innovation, in India.
