Urban Monkey's first venture into experimental accessories - an analog+digital watch, released in three variants: Moon, Astro, and Origin. Designed as a collectible art piece, it explored our perception of time through messages like "Keep Moving Forward", "Be here now" & "Don't let time govern you". The collection's resonance was unprecedented, selling out in 40 minutes. Its campaign revolutionized product presentation in India, by blurring reality and simulation through detailed 3D world-building.

An experimental practice where functionality transcends utility to become ornamental. Born from vari0us' transdisciplinary approach, it creates objects that serve unexpected functions while maintaining core purpose. This transforms everyday accessories into expressions of values, beliefs, and cultural narratives - where function itself becomes an artistic statement.

CONCEPTUAL
Beauty lies when 2 ends of duality merge,
to create a third,
the in-between.
Like when AI generates transitions between two images, navigating the latent space -
finding meaningful intermediate representations
that naturally flow from one state to another.
Each point representing a valid, coherent possibility
between the start and end points.
The present exists at the intersection
of past and future.
Infinite in its moment.

PERSONAL
I often find myself in-between disciplines,
in-between people,
in-between ideas.
Not by choice, but by nature.
Its hard to identify,
Or communicate what is that one thing that I specialise in / obsess over..
Until I realized - I obsess over the in-between.
And I've learned to embrace this space.

DIAL CONSTRUCTION
The dial's design draws from the Vesica Pisces - the sacred intersection where binaries meet, symbolizing the interconnectedness of opposites: the physical and spiritual, the divine and mundane. This geometry is redrawn in form of a triple-circle composition, where the intersection of two primary circles gives birth to a larger third, the in-between.
This form, found in Carlo Scarpa's Brion Tomb where it explores duality at an architectural scale, is reimagined here at the scale of a timepiece. The dial's stepped periphery pays homage to Scarpa's signature detailing, echoing his exploration of intersecting realms.
At opposing corners, the sun and moon markers represent the spectrum's endpoints - past and future, beginning and end. Between them, eye motifs serve as silent observers of the present moment, watching without judgment.

The geometry extends into twelve radial divisions, housing two distinct dial functions:
_The left dial tracks hours and minutes, marking linear time
_The right dial features an asymmetrical seconds hand in its own dedicated space, emphasizing the present moment
This separation is intentional. The eccentric motion of the seconds hand creates a mesmerizing optical effect, drawing attention to the 'now' - a subtle reminder of how our minds habitually oscillate between past and future, rarely settling in the present.

PARAMETRIC SCRIPT
The dial construction explores multiple fabrication methods - etching, engraving, marking, and enamel fill - along with a luminous layer. The form is generated through parametric scripting, considering specific tolerances:
_Etching at 0.15 mm Tolerance
_Engraving at 0.05mm Tolerance
_Enamel fill 0.35mm Tolerance

EXPERIMENTAL HARDWARE PACKAGE
URBNMNKY-SYSTMS' modular approach is extended through a spring mechanism in the strap, enabling quick detachment and multiple use case configurations.
The watch transcends its wrist-bound identity - becoming a necklace, pocket watch, or bag accessory through this experimental hardware package. Each configuration transforms time from measurement to ornament, a sacred reminder of presence that travels with the user.

IDENTITY MARKINGS
Calibration marks, a signature element of the brand, appear here through etching. These functional markers gauge the manufacturing facility's ability for precision, while creating visual language across scales and mediums- from print to TPU to embroidery.
