Inspired by the Montessori methods of education, Bloomingdales, a preprimary school had to be redesigned in order to respond to the new methods teaching which were being incorporated. The exiting repetition in space was broken by compositions of variating colors and openings, to build a playful world for these tiny humans. An experimental outdoor play area that continued into an indoor multipurpose space, explored arenas of various forms for the kids to have a collaborative play experience. This was complemented by some satellite modular furniture made to promote unity, friendship and interaction amongst all students. The compositions of Paul Klee’s paintings were translated into various openings of different forms for more visual connection in-between the classrooms.
